Dr. Aileen John is a physician leader and family medicine clinician whose career bridges patient care, medical education, and health system transformation. She currently serves as Regional Medical Director for Penn Primary Care & Specialty Care in Chester County and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
A native of Philadelphia, Dr. John completed her undergraduate education at Temple University, earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed her Family Medicine Residency at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and is currently pursuing her MBA at Johns Hopkins University to further strengthen her expertise in healthcare leadership and strategy.
Dr. John has been actively involved in multiple system-wide initiatives at Penn Medicine, including the Inboxologist program to reduce provider “pajama time,” innovative approaches to lipid screening published in JAMA Cardiology, and quality improvement pilots in patient experience and physician wellness. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented nationally at conferences such as the American Heart Association. Her leadership emphasizes measurable outcomes, collaborative innovation, and patient-centered care.
Dr. John resides in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania with her husband and children. She treasures community engagement, often integrating these into her leadership journey. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, gardening, cheering for Philadelphia sports teams and volunteering.
