Women's Health Center for Clinical Innovation

The Women’s Health Center for Clinical Innovation (WHCCI) at Penn Medicine is the first of its kind in the country. Established by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2021, WHCCI’s vision is to drive improvements in patient health and healthcare delivery by utilizing innovative approaches including rapid cycle iterations, digital health and implementation science. The Center offers a variety of programs and resources to aid providers, trainees, and staff in the development of innovative solutions, including project management, consultation, mentorship, monthly events and programming. It also administers an annual grant to provide seed funding for innovation projects.

"I'm always seeking something new and different, not shying away from the forks in the road," says Anuja Dokras, MD, MHCI, PhD, a Penn professor who specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Guided by her adventurous spirit, Dokras has embraced career shifts and opportunities over the years. Her work now spans a multitude of responsibilities, including treating patients, overseeing translational research, advising trainees and colleagues, and directing two centers at Penn Medicine.

Our Mission

The mission of the Women’s Health Center for Clinical Innovation is to promote a cross disciplinary culture of innovation to achieve seamless, high-value healthcare delivery throughout a woman’s lifespan, and implement and scale novel strategies to offer equitable, efficient, connected healthcare whilst incorporating Penn Medicine’s tripartite mission of excellence in clinical care, education and research.
