Research

Reagan’s research interests include optimizing the equitable delivery of surgical care, diversifying the surgical workforce, and improving the well-being of trainees and surgeons. During medical school, she completed a dedicated research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Institute for Technology Assessment, where she led projects examining disparities in endocrine surgery and the mental health of academic surgeons. As part of this work, she worked with Dr. Carrie Cunningham to help lead the Association for Academic Surgery’s Presidential Mental Health Task Force and conduct a national survey on surgeon well-being, delivering local, national, and invited talks on the topic.

Currently, she is involved in projects evaluating geographic access to metabolic and bariatric surgery for adolescents and examining the impact of rural hospital closures and regionalization on pediatric surgical care. Her long-term goal is to inform policy and system-level interventions that advance the equitable delivery of surgical care.
