About Dr. Kau
Nathan Kau is a PGY-1 general surgery resident at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis with a major in Biology. He continued at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis where he obtained his medical degree. Nathan’s clinical interests include colorectal surgery and surgical oncology.

Research
Nathan’s research interests began during his undergraduate studies, where he worked with Dr. Matthew Ciorba to investigate the effects of targeting immuno-oncologic metabolites on colorectal cancer cell proliferation. In medical school, Nathan worked closely with Dr. William Chapman Jr. on several projects, with a focus on nonoperative management of patients with rectal cancer.
