We are a resident-led group within Penn Radiology, working in collaboration with the Department’s leadership to support a welcoming and supportive training environment. Our mission is to strengthen our residency by fostering a sense of belonging for all trainees while engaging in academic and community outreach efforts that address disparities in health and care delivery. Our group leadership and events are open to all Penn Radiology trainees. 

What We Do

Our team partners with the Department on a range of ongoing initiatives. Throughout the year, residents lead and support efforts that contribute to both community-building and academic advancement.

Residency Outreach -Educational Initiatives 

Residents are active and valued contributors to residency outreach efforts. Our subcommittee plays a key role in several aspects of the season, including:

  • Outreach and engagement prior to interview season 
  • Participation in informational sessions, tours, and interview day activities 
  • Helping coordinate second look opportunities within the Radiology Department 
  • Supporting collaborative recruitment events with partner organizations and programs 

Community Outreach - Health and STEM Career Mentorship 

Residents are active and valued contributors to the Department's efforts to improve the health of and mentor the youth within the communities that surround Penn Medicine. Our subcommittee residents take leadership roles in the Department’s outreach initiatives and play essential roles at all stages from project creation and design to event completion and impact evaluation. Annual events include: 

  • Community Health Education and Screening Fairs 
  • High School & Middle School STEM Career Mentoring Workshops for Summer Research Interns and Science Olympiad Students 

Mentorship

  • Program wide-mentorship improvement initiatives for current residents
  • New mentorship matchmaker program launched by the RIDE subcommittee 2021 with the goal of matching residents to faculty of similar personal and professional interests early in their career.
