Sara Shibe – Director, Medical Education

Sara is the Director of Medical Education, a role which she has held since 2017. In this role, Sara oversees medical education across the continuum for the Department of Medicine. Her main responsibilities include short and long term strategic planning, budgetary operations, and supervision of the medical education team. Prior to this role, she was the Manager of Ambulatory Education for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Her roles within the residency program have led her to develop professional passions in strategic planning across the medical education continuum and ambulatory education scheduling. She holds a BS in Kinesiology from The Pennsylvania State University, a MPH from West Chester University, and a MBA from The Pennsylvania State University. Outside of work, Sara enjoys being with her family, spending time in the kitchen, especially baking and making charcuterie boards, planning a good party, cheering on Penn State football, and traveling.

Charita Brown – Education Coordinator

Charita oversees the daily outpatient educational operations for the residents at 3701 Market Street, including continuity clinics and Integrative Learning Module (ILM) experiences. Charita has been with the University since 2000, and has decades worth of experience in administrative operations, University systems and an understanding and appreciation of medical education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Temple University and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from Widener University. Charita is married to her husband, Leon, and they are the parents to their daughter, Savannah. Charita loves spending time with her family, vacationing, watching documentaries, reading, and shopping.

Gina L. Ralph, MS – Coordinator

Gina oversees the efficient and smooth operation of day-to-day business and administrative needs of the office, including provision of support to two senior level physician directors in Graduate and Undergraduate Medical Education. Gina joined the University of Pennsylvania in January of 2022, and has experience in management, business and administrative operations and a decade of experience in medical education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Science in Administration of Justice. In addition, she holds certification in ESL and loves to teach. Gina is a mother to Gene Jr. and the grandmother to Camryn Gene. In her free time, she enjoys spending time and having new adventures with her grandson, reading, and cooking with new recipes to hold dinners at her home for family and friends.
