Olga Alvarez Lopez, MD
Olga was born and raised in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she double majored in Biology and Sociology. Afterwards, she obtained her medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. During her residency at Penn, she participated in the Medical Education Leadership Track. Olga is excited and honored to be one of the inpatient chief residents at Penn for the 2025-2026 academic year. Her career interests lie in medical education, hospital medicine, and addressing healthcare disparities. When she is not at work, you can find her reading, running, hiking, or exploring the Philadelphia food scene.

Julia Carter, MD
Julia was born on the Fort Lewis ARMY base in Tacoma, Washington and raised in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State for her undergraduate education before going on to obtain a Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh and a medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. During her Internal Medicine training at Penn, Julia found passions in teaching, leadership, and general internal medicine. She looks forward to a career in academic hospital medicine. She is thrilled to serve as one of the inpatient chief residents for the 2025-2026 academic year. Outside of work, you can catch Julia at any Philadelphia sporting event, playing tennis, enjoying new restaurants, and traveling the world.

Brittany C Glassberg (she/her), MD
Brittany is from Long Island, New York. She attended Duke University for her undergraduate degree and the Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai for her medical degree. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics at Penn/CHOP in 2025, and is honored to be serving as Med-Peds chief resident at Penn/CHOP for 2025-2026. She hopes to pursue training in Cardiovascular Medicine to care for adults with congenital heart disease. When she is not spending time at Penn and CHOP, she loves to spend time with her friends and family in Philly and back home in New York. She also likes to exercise, read, travel, watch tennis and explore the Philadelphia restaurant scene.

Simon Liebling, MD
Simon was born in Milan, Italy and grew up in New Jersey. After majoring in history in college, he worked in New York as a classroom teacher, tutor, and educational administrator. He then completed a postbaccalaureate program at Columbia University and attended medical school at Columbia's Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. During residency at Penn, he was a member of the Medical Education Leadership Track and conducted research in medical education and oncology. His professional interests are in the overlap of medical education, medical communication, and palliative care. Outside of work, he loves rock climbing, trivia and crosswords, spending time down the shore, and exploring Philly's indie music scene.

Ellen Solomon, MD
Ellen Solomon was born in the DC metropolitan area and has family roots in Lancaster County, PA. She attended Princeton University for her undergraduate studies where she majored in Sociology. Afterward, she moved to Philadelphia where she completed medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University followed by Internal Medicine residency training at Penn. She hopes to pursue fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care, with an interest in patient-centered care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and healthcare quality improvement to advance outcomes for critically ill patients and those with chronic lung disease. She lives in the Italian Market neighborhood with her husband and enjoys tending to her thriving urban sidewalk garden, jogging along the Delaware River, biking, and visiting her family in the greater Philadelphia area.

Seiichi Villalona, MD
Seiichi is of Dominican-Japanese descent, was born in the Dominican Republic, and grew up in Northern New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Cultural Anthropology at The College of New Jersey. Seiichi went on to complete graduate studies in Applied Medical Anthropology at the University of South Florida prior to obtaining his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During residency at Penn, he was part of the Global Health Equities Track. Seiichi is pursuing a career in Hematology/Oncology with research interests at the intersection of disparities in cancer outcomes, psychosocial distress in cancer, and health services research. During his free time, you can find him travelling, enjoying the food scene in Philly, and spending time with his Bernedoodle puppy, Maple.
