Meet the residents of Pennsylvania Hospital's Department of Internal Medicine.
Message from the Chiefs
Welcome visitors! We are the Chief Residents for the 2024-2025 academic year, and we are happy you are taking the time to learn more about our program.
Our story at Pennsy first started back in August 2021, when we met over noon conference as two eager visiting medical students. We quickly bonded over our local roots and osteopathic training, but over the course of 4 weeks, we then bonded over our love for this program and our strong desire to match here. On March 18, 2022 our paths crossed again as we learned of each other’s placement at Pennsy and exchanged excited, congratulatory texts. Flash forward to now, sharing our plant-filled chief resident office together feels surreal to say the least.
As was first demonstrated to us as visiting medical students, Pennsy is a unique place. The friendships and relationships that form here persevere through the tests of time and distance. This includes not only the friendships and relationships forged within each class, but also across classes and with attendings and mentors. People who work at Pennsy love Pennsy, and they believe in its culture. Our program values training which focuses on delivering high quality care, evidence-based practice, and giving you the tools to become an independent practitioner who is comfortable managing a wide spectrum of disease pathology with both compassion and expertise. At the same time, we value the importance of teamwork, and strive to create a program where residents are eager to learn from and support each other as we work towards our common goal of becoming excellent clinicians. v
As chief residents, our aim is to nurture and grow this positive program culture, support residents during their training, and coordinate educational content. We also strive to develop our own skills in mentoring, leading, and teaching. Throughout the year, we recognize residents who are thriving, provide support to those in need of guidance, and act as central connectors within our entire program network. We also coordinate with social representatives to organize program events that bring our group together and take part in noon conferences and other lectures to teach residents daily.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Pennsy’s program and we hope this gives you a better sense of life here. We look forward to your applications and hope to meet you on interview day.
Go Birds!
