What to do if you are considering applying?

1. Discuss with your program director your intention to apply. We will require their approval if you are accepted.
2. You will be asked the following questions on your application:
   1. Name
   2. Residency Program
   3. Describe why you are interested in joining the Healthcare Leadership in Quality residency track. (500 word maximum)
   4. Which clinical unit/floor, ambulatory site or informatics group are you interested in joining?
   5. Please list potential faculty mentors from your department you would like to work with.
   6. Curriculum Vitae
3. You will be contacted by Kathryn O’Boyle to coordinate an interview time after your application is received. Since space is limited in the program, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible so that interviews can be scheduled.
4. Speak to current track residents and/or mentors to learn more about the program and if it meets your goals (see our website for the list of our current track residents).

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who Should Apply?
   Residents from any Penn Medicine residency program can apply.
2. Do residents need to know how to do a quality improvement project?
   Absolutely not! We will work with you from July to November 2025 to help you select and design an improvement initiative project within the healthcare system. Additionally, we will provide you with the skills and opportunity to work with an already established multidisciplinary team to complete your chosen project.
3. What is the time commitment?
   The track is a two-year program. During these two years, you will be expected to spend a minimum of 7 weeks to the curriculum and related activities. You will also be expected to attend a number of evening seminars.
