Our mission is to train physicians in the highest quality provision of care to people and communities affected by substance use disorders with an emphasis on harm reduction, health equity, and health care innovation and research.

Our program aims to train fellows in four key areas:

Excellence in patient care. In all care settings, fellows will receive training in the highest quality, evidence-based and person-centered provision of medical care.
Harm Reduction. In all care settings, fellows will be taught to employ the principles of hard reduction intentionally and consistently. Fellows will learn to apply a variety of communication and clinical strategies to provide non-judgmental, non-coercive, individualized care to each patient to minimize the health and social consequences of substance use.
Health Equity. Through our explicit commitment to health equity and removing barriers to treatment for historically marginalized groups, our program will continue to train fellows in non-traditional care models and targeted outreach efforts to intentionally expand access to care.
Health Care Innovation and Research. Faculty will provide formal and informal mentorship on approaches to framing and pursuing essential questions in the field of addiction medicine.
