About Dr. Ordonez

Originally from Bucaramanga, Colombia, Alvaro earned his medical degree from the Universidad Industrial de Santander. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in infectious diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he later served as a faculty member. Following his internship at NYC Health + Hospitals/NYU Langone, he began his residency in Diagnostic Radiology.

As a member of the Research and Health Equity Tracks, Alvaro is focused on developing and implementing accessible molecular imaging tools to enhance the diagnosis and management of infections, cancer, and inflammatory diseases worldwide. He also contributes to the ED Readiness, Wellness, and Extender Oversight Committees.

Outside of medicine and the lab, Alvaro enjoys running, photography, exploring architecture, traveling, reading random history books, and spending time with friends and family.
